I get it.
There are so many artists out there , you just don’t know HOW to pick the right one! What are you supposed to look for? Maybe you don’t even know what YOU are looking for at all.
Below are guides + tips that might help you find THE ONE.
You MUST read any reviews they may have; whether online or even through word of mouth referrals. Get the deets!
Once your list is narrowed, find their website, personal page, i,e. instagram & then what next? You stalk them! YES, stalk them (haha!). Make sure you like what you see from any examples that you might find. See if they’ve worked with clients with features similar to yours
Once you found the few that you liked, send them an email. Pick the ones that are most responsive! This shouldn’t be the main deciding factor, however it is so nice when you ask a question or request a quote and get an immediate answer. But be reasonable! Give them up to 72 hours at least since you never know, they could be busy. I know I am guilty of this. Sometimes, answering emails is not at the top of my to-do list when I have a million other things to do. However, anything past a week, to me is considered unreasonable.
Schedule a trial with the artist(s) you like. Something a lot of brides/clients don’t know is that trials cost money. So it can get very expensive to schedule multiple trials. You should schedule one trial at a time and go down the list if the one prior didn’t work out. Since you did a lot of the research already, you should find the right artist from the top 5 on your list.
Always remember, you will most likely get what you pay for. On average, artists price themselves based on their experience and skills. You’ll need to weigh the pros and cons and also re-evaluate your budget. You’re not for every artist and every artist is not for you.
That’s why there are options… so explore them!
On average, higher budget artists will probably use higher end products and lower budget artists will use lower end products. This is a very general assumption. Not to say that higher end products work better; you don’t want only high end products, but you want products that WORK. So you can’t judge 100% on what’s in their kit. A good artist will use good products and customize their kit to the clients.
Pick an artist that can answer your questions and know what they’re doing! Knowledge is key to ensure everything goes smoothly on your special day.
